The peak is locally known as “Varayadin Motta”. It is situated about 1600 meters  above sea level, equally to Ponmudi High Ranges. A climb to the hill through the pristine dense forest will open the eye into the extra ordinary beauty of nature. On the hill top you can see the patches of shola forest, horn hill birds and rickets. A unique attraction is the sight of Nilgiri Tahr, that lopes in groups through the areas of wide spread mountains.

  Day-1 NEDUMANGAD  
 

Early morning after break fast, drive to Mankayam Forest Checkpost. After forest’s verification, starts trekking to mountain peaks, through the semi evergreen forest. Varayadin Motta peak is straight one and the trekking will be very slow. On the way,  we arrange rest in some suitable areas with light refreshments.

 
     
 

After three hours strenuous trekking, wel reach the hill top. Early morning is best for seeing the Nilgiri Tahr since at that time they come outside for eating grasses. After trekking the hill tops, we can have lunch and then journey starts to bottom valley. Here in the valley you can bath in water falls. The undulating terrain with rocky patches, shelters the Kalakkayan water fall. The water fall gives a panorama views for the visitors. Then drive towards Trivandrum for onward journey.
